Squids fishin | St. Michael Patron Saint’s village festival

To-day the old fishermen village Sant’Angelo is an international touristic resort. No cars are allowed to drive in Sant’Angelo and unlike the other Ischia’s villages it’s still a peaceful oasis.

With an area of 150 hectares and about 400 inhabitants Sant’Angelo is on the south coast of the island Ischia. Full of trees and plants of any kind in Sant’Angelo you can have marvellous panorama with the all coloured houses joined to the small hill on the harbour. Small roads which overlook at the blue and clear sea.

Boutiques with exclusive griffes, fine jeweller’s shops, ateliers, craftmanlike goods, expecially the local pottery, allow the visitors a special shopping.

You can taste and enjoy the all different fresh fishes and the special Ischia’s gastronomy in the country restaurants near the sea. Romantic nights with the moonlight in the unique and picturesque square, special local music in the piano bars and in the typical taverns can also be appreciate.

A very special plate is the "pollo alla fumarola" which is cooked under the local vulcanic sands at the “Fumarole” beach.

But what is really unique and makes the difference among other villages in the world is the small island called “la Torre”. It is a volcanic rise island with lots of semicircle terracings. Once at the top of this 105 metres high rise there wasa small church where began the cult of St. Michael’s Archangel which is the to day’s Sant’Angelo’s Patron Saint. With its thermal gardens, hot springs, beaches, Sant’Angelo to day is an international touristic resort.
